about Maureen: Maureen Sturmey was born in England, and emigrated to Canada in 1967. Interested in art since childhood, Maureen began painting in Cambridge Ontario, with instruction from her neighbour, an art teacher. Maureen has been painting seriously since 1991 - mainly self-taught, and with instruction from many known artists. Her favourite medium is oils although she does paint in acrylic and watercolours. Maureen Sturmey has paintings sold in Canada and England plus the United States and Australia. She is inspired with the Georgian Bay area; skies and water are her passion. Maureen also loves to paint children at play, anything that catches her eye while at home or traveling. Maureen says to watch a blank canvas become a work of art in front of your very eyes is indescribable. It gives her so much pleasure. |
